Fender confirms NAM A2 support is coming to the Tone Master Pro — captures load like any amp block, with touchscreen and app control. No release date yet.

Fender just made it official: the Tone Master Pro is getting Neural Amp Modeler (NAM) A2 support. That could make Fender’s flagship floor modeler one of the first big-name units to play the open-source captures that have been shaking up digital gear all year.

The confirmation came from Max Gutnik, Fender’s Chief Product Officer, in a post on the official Tone Master Pro Users forum that was then shared to Reddit, as reported by Guitar World (Phil Weller, Oct. 30, 2026), Guitar.com and GuitarBomb.

What Fender Actually Said

According to Gutnik, the in-house team is “putting it through its paces,” and Fender wants to move quickly without rushing it. “Our goal is to make TMP an amazing platform to play NAM, just like we do with the rest of your amps and effects,” he wrote.

The key details:

  • NAM captures drop into the signal chain like any other amp block.
  • They work with the touchscreen and the companion app like everything else.
  • You can give each capture its own graphic.
  • No release date has been announced.

GuitarBomb also reports that Fender said in follow-up forum comments it will keep building its own Tone Master Pro amp models alongside NAM support.

What Is NAM A2?

NAM is an open-source amp-modeling system created by Steve Atkinson. The A2 version launched on June 2, 2026. It lets players capture their own amps, cabs and pedals and load models made by brands and other users. Guitar World notes A2 beat several major modeling rivals in a blind listening test.

Devices that already support NAM — like the new Zoom Neurig and the Blackstar BEAM Mini — can tap into thousands of tones on the TONE3000 platform.

What It Won’t Do (Yet)

Based on what Fender has announced, the Tone Master Pro will play NAM A2 captures. Fender hasn’t announced a way to create captures on the unit itself, so you’d still make your own on a computer first. Fender also hasn’t said which A2 variant it will use, how much processing power captures will take, or whether older NAM files will work.

Until now, some owners had been forcing NAM-style profiles into the unit’s impulse-response slots — a workaround that GuitarBomb notes could void the warranty. Native support makes that unnecessary.

The TGP Take

This is a big move for Fender. Instead of treating community captures as a threat, it’s inviting them onto its flagship. If it ships well, Tone Master Pro owners get Fender’s own models plus a near-endless library of real-amp captures in one box — and Fender lands ahead of Neural DSP, Line 6 and IK Multimedia on official NAM A2 support. The catch is timing: the last major Tone Master Pro update came in December 2025, and there’s no date for this one.
